The Land We Fight For is a 39-minute documentary short film by Dimitri Nasennik, about two farmers—one from Ukraine and one from Estonia—who, amidst the turmoil of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, transition from tending their lands to actively supporting the Ukrainian Armed Forces. The Ukrainian farmer’s son is serving on the front lines, while the Estonian farmer collaborates with the 69th Sniffing Brigade to deliver essential aid to Ukrainian troops.
The Land We Fight For incorporates hand-painted documentary mixed-media animation made by me:) I visited Ukrainian farmer's village to shoot my animation, and used some archive footage as well.
These animated sequences serve to illustrate moments that are challenging to capture through live-action footage, such as personal memories, internal reflections, and symbolic interpretations of the farmers’ journeys.

After purchasing, you’ll receive a ticket code valid for four days, which can be used on any device. The ticket price is flexible, ranging from €10 to €2000, with all proceeds donated to the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
At the premiere of the film (in Kyiv and Tallinn) we were selling original frames of animation for donations to armed forces of Ukraine, and gathered approximately 1.000€ !
For now (21.05.2025) the online tickets gathered a bit more than 13.000€
